Sometimes these kinds of things go around on social media platforms asking you to list all the places you have been in your life. I had done it about 10 years ago, and then my mother told me she completed one a few days ago. I thought it would be interesting to see how my list has fared since then.
Reviewing the list made me think of many interesting episodes in my life, and in these times of quarantine, it was pleasant to think about other places to be as well as look up how they have changed since I was there. I certainly cannot complain, I have been extremely lucky to have been able to experience the places on this list.
First, try compiling your own list and remember that airport layovers do not count. Only list towns, cities or villages that you have actually experienced to some extent.
Then, think about what you might be inspired to write about. As a writing prompt, there are many things that creating a list like this can give you. For example, what is your favourite place in the world? Where would you like to go back and see how it has changed? Do any of the places on your list hold especially sad memories, and why? Where did you have any life-changing moments, and what happened? Have you visited any place multiple times, and how were the experiences different each time? What place do you know like the back of your hand? Which places hold a special connection to your family, and why? You could choose any of these, or if you think of any other ideas, please list them in the comments.
